Sheffield As Seen By A Mistress Cutler M. Brown
This book is written by the Mistress cutler in the form of a number of letters sent to what I believe is her daughter. She served her term of office between October, 1930 and October, 1931. These letters first appeared in the Yorkshire Telegraph and Star, and the authors aim was to give a picture of Sheffield life in its various phases. She thanks those friends who gave valuable help by kindly criticism and encouragement. The letters give an insight into life in the early 20th century from the perspective of someone who was comfortably well off. There is a little genealogical interest and plenty of information for those with an interest in the city of the past. Scanned and converted to PDF format this is a facsimile of the original.
